Resources : Corral or Enclosure Tips

We prefer there be no corral or enclosure, however in the event you need to build one please incorporate the suggestions laid out in the following list:

1. Have the doors mounted at least 6 inches (or higher) off of the ground. This way if there is snow on the ground the doors can still be swung open.
   
   
2. Have the doors mounted so that the opening of the corral isn't minimized. Basically try to have the doors mounted on the outside of the corral wall. This will keep the opening of the corral as large as possible.
   
   
3. Have the doors capable of being opened 180 degrees. This will keep the doors out of the way while the can is being emptied.
   
   
4. Have a stopper (or prop or something) to keep the doors propped open. Sometimes the wind will blow the corral doors against the truck while the dumpster is being dumped in the air and this can damage the doors or trash truck.
   
   
5. Good hinges with room for play in the door latches. Sometimes the hinges within a few months will get sloppy and the doors will not line up to latch closed If there is room for error initially the doors will last longer and will not have problems closing.
   
   
6. Have there be enough room to walk around the dumpster while it is in the corral. Have 3 feet of room all the way around the dumpster (all 4 sides of dumpster). For dumpster dimensions go to our Rear Load.Containers Page For example, the largest dumpster (8yard) would need a 14ft (left to right) X 16ft (front to back) enclosure
   
   
7. The opening of the corral should be at least 14 feet. This will allow the truck to back up directly to the dumpster.
